The 3x3 Difference

The 3x3 basketball format forces each player to be engaged offensively and defensively. This allows for a meaningful basketball experience each and every time a player participates.

Youth basketball has a problem

The current youth basketball landscape is built around shortcuts rather than real growth. The 3BA identifies three major issues:

Zone Defense

Youth basketball players are often taught to play "zone" defense as a means to win games. This concept forces players to shoot from distance at an age where they lack the physical strength to do so, developing bad habits from a young age. Kids also fail to learn proper defensive principles that reinforce hard work as a path to success.

Inconsistent Skill Development

Practicing step-back 3s won't help your game if you cannot make a left-handed layup. Young players are taught "NBA moves" without any context or focus on fundamentals. Players have difficulty applying complex moves in games when their fundamentals are not established.

Stressful Environment

Parents screaming, players taunting, coaches swearing, players benched, and unequal opportunity. Enough said.

The fix

Why join the 3BA?

While many youth experience difficult basketball learning environments going through Rep or House Leagues, the 3BA prides itself on using 3x3's streetball roots as the essence for competition rooted in fun. Here's what sets the 3BA apart:

01

Link Training to Competition

The 3BA offers enhanced skills development to help young players improve and reach their potential. Each weekly session incorporates a segment devoted to skill improvement. 3x3 games also feature improved spacing, giving offenses the room to attack in space and defenses the ability to focus on man-to-man competition.

02

Dominate Floor Time

With just 3 players on the court, all players participate on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball. 3x3 players gain meaningful basketball experience as each player receives significant floor time.

03

Foster a "Next Play" Mentality

Unlike 5x5 basketball, players are not immediately substituted off by a coach, so they don't have time to dwell on a mistake. 3x3 is fast-paced as players quickly shift from offense to defense, allowing them to refocus and keep their confidence stable.

04

Elevate Communication & Collaboration

With only 3 players on a wide court, every player must be engaged and active on both sides of the ball. Success requires teamwork and communication in play.
